While you can find mushrooms almost during the whole year, autumn is their main season. In my area we didn't have as much rain as usual this year, so the soil was very dry for September and October. And with dry soil no mushrooms. But somehow, in the darker parts of the woods and by moist meadows some fungi managed to emerge :)
I don't have many pictures to show, there were just not many shroomies for me in the forest. So there is just a little photo post at all.

Development of Roe Deer Antlers
Hello and welcome to a long overdue entry. This time I want to look closer to roe buck antlers. Only male roe deer grow antlers and these could be long and thin or short and bold. Or long AND bold! They come in such a variety - it's very interesting! But how do they grow? Please read more under the cut.

Back on Track!
Hoka hey, guys! Long time no see, eh?
Sorry to let you wait that long but many things happened in my life. I mean, Corona hit us all, but there is also another illnes I have to deal with. The weather wasn't that great this spring so when I had time there was cold or rain - or both. So no snake patrol for me. But I don't want to complain about the weather here. It's okey and today I finally was on a photo safary by the ponds again. It was AWESOME! Let's have some pictures under the cut!

Graveyard in the Forest
Since over a year I'm fighting an illness. My leg was suddenly swollen and no doctor could say what it causes, so I was in a state of pain und visited many doctors and hospitals. There was no chance for me to go for some bone hunt but now, after a year and some treatment later, I was able to visit my beloved mountain forest again! I sure was looking for skulls - and found much more. Follow me under the cut!

The white Bear
Actually I have already written about my polar bear skull but a lot of older blog entries lost their photos so I rewrite it again. Someone over Twitter was curious about that skull anyway ;)
Well, at first I dond't want to buy a polar bear skull - it just happend! Years ago I saw a picture of a huge polar bear skull next to an ordinary human skull - it was an amazing size comparison. I sent that picture to a Canadian who sold arctic animal parts and asked him, if he had such a big polar bear skulls as well...

Life of Psy
Okey, I admit it, the title of this entry is a bad adaption of the movie "Life of Pi", especially when there's no tiger involved. But another big cat! YAY! A big dream came true and I want to share some photos of it. Please, have a closer look under the cut!

Fossil Hunt 2.0
Today I decided spontaneous to visit the stone pit "Schümel" in Holderbank, Aargau. It has been a while since I was there the last time, I think it was in 2016 or so. It was my very first fossil hunt then and I had to learn how to look after fossils and where they are to find. Today it was much easier, because I knew exactly where I had to look. And I was very lucky and found some nice pieces! Read more under the cut!
